NEW MILFORD, NJ — A victim of the 2017 West Side terror attack was honored in New Jersey on Sunday.
Darren Drake’s family gathered in New Milford to commemorate Drake’s life.
He was one of eight people who died when a driver plowed through a bike path along the Hudson River. Twelve others were injured.
Sunday’s honor comes as the accused, Sayfullo Saipov, awaits a verdict in the penalty phase of his trial. He was convicted of the attack last month.
“I want justice. I’ve thought about this so many times. I’ve thought about this so many times. I just want them to come to a decision,” said father James T. Drake.
The Drake family also honored those involved in the Darren Drake Foundation, which was established to support the learning and development of individuals pursuing professional careers.
