EAST CHICAGO, Ind. (CBS) — A driver was killed Monday afternoon when a freight train crashed into a car in East Chicago, Indiana.
According to CSX officials, the operator drove past the lowered gates as a train approached near Euclid and Chicago avenues at 3:08 p.m.
A CSX freight train struck the car, killing the car’s driver.
No one else was injured.
CSX is working with local law enforcement to investigate.
