Elon Musk says SpaceX’s headquarters are in Starbase, Texas

(Reuters) -Elon Musk said on social media platform X on Thursday that SpaceX’s headquarters will now officially be in the city of Starbase, Texas.

In July, Musk said he would move the headquarters of two of his companies — social media platform X and rocket company SpaceX — to Texas from California, citing a new gender identity law there as the “last straw.”

The billionaire previously said SpaceX’s headquarters would move to an existing facility in Boca Chica, Texas, while X would move to Austin. However, the extent to which California jobs or facilities will be transferred to Texas was unclear.

He also transferred the founding of SpaceX from Delaware to Texas earlier this year. This followed Musk’s shareholders voting to move Tesla’s incorporation status to Texas, where it is headquartered, after a Delaware judge declared his $56 billion pay package invalid.

In 2021, Musk also moved Tesla’s headquarters from California to Texas, but said California would remain the tech center.

Musk changed his own place of residence in 2021 from California to Texas, where there are no state income taxes for individuals.
