>>‘There is a lot of chaos in this street;’ Large police presence seen at the University of Dayton
Taylor Robertson of News Center 7 reports that UD students held a block party, which the university is known for. Via social media, they choose a street where they all come to party together.
“So we were just having a fun Labor Day weekend and something happened,” says Charlie, a UD student. “A scuffle took place, a group of people started running and the police stopped.”
One student said he saw everyone running in the street.
“I was in front of everyone I knew and pulled them into a house because everyone said someone pulled a gun and ran all over the street,” said Gary Hoeft. “It has cleared the street.”

Hoeft said these block parties often take place on campus.
“It’s common when we have block parties and stuff,” he told News Center 7. “It’s like you’re just trying to hang out with your friends that you know here, and then the people who live around here but don’t do that. go there, come in, and things like that happen.

I just looked down from someone’s porch and people were boxing, and the next thing we knew everyone was running.
Our news crew saw a man being taken away in handcuffs.
“I have lawyers!” he yelled as officers led him away.
