Los Angeles police arrested the ex-wife of a Woodland Hills doctor after the doctor was ambushed and killed outside his practice.
Dr. Hamid Mirshojae left his office on Topanga Canyon Boulevard and was walking to his car on Aug. 23 when someone walked up and shot him multiple times, Los Angeles police said. The shooter ran from the scene.
Mirshojae was later pronounced dead at the scene.
LAPD investigators did just that described the killing as a targeted hitwith surveillance video showing the suspected shooter waiting in a nearby parking lot for nearly an hour before Mirshojae left the building.
Earlier this week, LAPD announced that two people have been arrested Tuesday in connection with the doctor’s murder.
Evan Hardman, 41, of Tomball, Texas and Ashley Rose Sweeting, 40, of Reseda were arrested. It remains unclear what connection Hardman and Sweeting may have had with the victim.
On Thursday, the LAPD confirmed officers responded to a Calabasas home along Newcastle Lane. Homicide investigators said the search was related to Mirshojae’s death. Public records show the house belongs to Mirshojae’s ex-wife. It was one of a few properties searched by investigators, according to the LAPD.
Mirshojae and his ex-wife filed for divorce in 2009. Although the divorce was finalized in 2010, the couple spent most of the years in court until his death in 2024. Their most recent hearing was in April 2024, where the ex-wife petitioned for adult child support, according to court records.
Officers arrested ex-wife Ahang Mirshojae, 53, and Shawn Randolph, 46, on December 12. The police have charged them with murder.
Detectives also announced the arrest of Sarallah Jawed, 26. He was booked on December 11 for murder under special circumstances.
Randolph and Mirshojae are being held without bail. Their cases will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on Monday, December 16.
Friends of Mirshojae told CBS News Los Angeles that he was recently married and had a daughter.
Police have not released a suspected motive.
