Father Starts Fundraiser for 2-Year-Old Killed by Drunk Driver in Fort Worth

The father of a toddler killed in a car crash on Interstate 35 in Fort Worth wants to raise money for her burial.

Amiyah Lashae Rose Fisher, 2, was one of five people killed Monday when a suspected drunk driver, 19-year-old Eduardo Gonzalez, rear-ended the victim’s sedan near the East Seminary Drive exit, causing the car to burst into flames.

“We are all devastated by the loss of Amiyah Lashae Rose Fisher and were not prepared for the high cost of a funeral service,” the child’s father, Eddie Fisher, said in a GoFundMe he organized. “We want to give Amiyah the memorial she deserves, to honor her beautiful memory and say our final goodbyes.”

GoFundMe aims to raise $5,000.

Willie Gunn and his girlfriend, Amber Hopewell — the mother of the 2-year-old — were identified by family as the two adults killed in the crash. Hopewell’s two other children — ages 4 and 9 — also died.

Gonzalez, who was driving a Chevrolet Camaro, is being held in the Tarrant County Jail on five counts of intoxication manslaughter, Fort Worth police said.

He was arrested at the scene. Police said they found alcohol containers in Gonzalez’s vehicle and that he showed signs of intoxication.

According to investigators, Gonzalez was driving at a high rate of speed when he struck the victims’ vehicle.

Gunn’s family members have also set up a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral costs, but have yet to answer questions about his death.

Gunn earned his living as a DoorDash driver, his niece Jacresia Gunn told the Star-Telegram, which is what her uncle was doing when the five were struck by Gonzalez’s vehicle.

The hardest thing for Willie Gunn’s family is that no one has contacted them about his death, Jacresia Gunn said. They have had to initiate all the phone calls themselves, his niece said. They are currently trying to contact a detective assigned to the case and have tried to reach out, including phone calls and texts, but have not heard back, she said.

Willie Gunn’s family is demanding that police hold Gonzalez accountable and allow them to see the police reports.

“They didn’t even get a chance to live their lives,” Jacresia Gunn said of Hopewell’s three children.

Of the target amount of $5,000, $815 had been raised as of Thursday.
