Firefighters and firefighting planes fight “aggressively” against a multi-hectare blazing fire in Castaic.
According to Angeles National Forest officials, crews were sent to the scene around 8 p.m. after learning of the blaze, which has so far burned about 14 acres of vegetation near Castaic Lake.
Both the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service are assisting in the fight. ANF ​​says several night-flying helicopters are also assisting from above.
They say the flames are moving at a “slow to moderate rate of spread” and pose a “minor threat to the community”.
As of 10:45 p.m., the fire is reportedly 50% under control.
The cause of the fire remains unclear.
There have been no injuries yet.
