Former NBA player Ben McLemore arrested in Oregon on sexual assault charges

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Detroit Pistons

Former NBA player Ben McLemore has been arrested and charged in Oregon on sexual assault charges from 2021 when he was a member of the Portland Trail Blazers.

McLemore — who has been out of the NBA since 2022 and is playing overseas — was arrested by U.S. Marshals when he landed at Portland airport on an outstanding warrant for first-degree rape, a charge of unlawful sexual penetration in the first degree and two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, according to Lake Oswego, Oregon police. He was ultimately taken to the Clackamas County Jail and arraigned in Clackamas County Circuit Court on Wednesday. He was subsequently released on $500,000 bail.

A Clackamas County grand jury indicted McLemore, reports ESPN’s Baxter Holmes, who first broke the story. That grand jury heard testimony from the woman who stepped forward and said McLemore assaulted her. The alleged attack took place on October 3, 2021 and a police investigation took place (delayed at some points due to McLemore being out of the country).

McLemore had one Drunk driving incident in Lugo, Spain, in March.
