(CBS DETROIT) – Gas prices in Michigan are down 15 cents from a week ago and have fallen to the lowest average since February, AAA said this on Monday.

Drivers in Michigan are paying an average of $3.12 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline, which is 34 cents less than this time last month and 22 cents cheaper than this time a year ago, according to AAA.

On average, a 15-gallon tank costs Michiganders $46, which is $12 less than what they paid in August 2023.

In Metro Detroit, drivers are fueling an average of $3.20 per gallon, which is about 11 cents less than last week and 18 cents less than this time last year.

“Motorists across Michigan are seeing much lower prices at the pump,” said AAA spokesperson Adrienne Woodland. “If demand continues to decline, in addition to increasing gasoline supplies, gas prices could continue to decline.”

AAA says the most expensive gas prices in the state are found in Ann Arbor ($3.20), Metro Detroit ($3.20), Marquette ($3.19), while the least expensive prices are found in Benton Harbor ($3. 01), Flint ($3.02), Grand Rapids ($3.04).

AAA offers the following tips to save on gas:

• Combine errands to reduce driving time.
• Shop around for the best gas prices in your community.
• Consider paying in cash. Some retailers charge extra per gallon for customers who pay with a credit card.
• Remove excess weight from your vehicle.
• Drive conservatively. Aggressive acceleration and speeding reduces fuel economy.
• Sign up for savings programs. AAA members who enroll in the Shell Fuel Rewards program can save 5 cents per gallon when they fill up with Shell.
