PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Philadelphia police believe the son of famed local rapper turned podcaster Gillie Da King is the victim killed in a triple shooting Thursday evening in the Olney borough of the city.

This shooting occurred just before 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Mascher Street and Nedro Avenue.

When police arrived on the scene, they found two shooting victims about a block away, including a 25-year-old man who had been shot in the back. They took those two to Einstein Medical Center where the man shot in the back was pronounced dead.

Several people at the scene told police the 25-year-old victim was YNG Cheese, Gillie’s son. Police are still trying to confirm that, as social media lit up Thursday night with tributes to the artist.

“Lil cuz usually when I talk to you I have a lot to tell you. Tonight the pain in my heart and tears spoke to you. I love you beyond life, cheese. Got your dad, rest well,” Gillie’s cousin and podcast partner Wallo posted on Instagram.

Gillie has also gone by the name Gillie Da Kid.

The two others injured in the shooting, a 28-year-old man and a 31-year-old man, are both in stable condition at Einstein’s.

Police are still trying to track down who shot these three men and why.

We haven’t heard from Gillie herself yet. He is scheduled to host Gillie Fest this Saturday night at Franklin Music Hall. It’s a concert and comedy show in honor of his birthday.

It is not yet known whether the show will continue.
