Golfer playing on Cheltenham Township golf course dies after tree falls on cart

CHELTENHAM, Pa. (CBS) – A person playing golf at JC Melrose Country Club in Cheltenham Township died Saturday after a tree fell on his golf cart.

Cheltenham Township Police said officers were called to the Montgomery County club, located at 7600 Tookany Creek Parkway, on April 13 just after 3 p.m. at the top,” police said.

According to police, the tree fell on the cart while the pair were driving around the course. The driver of the golf cart suffered only minor injuries.

Officials have not identified the victim and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Cheltenham Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call 215-885-1600 or email PoliceTips@CheltenhamPA.gov.
