Harbor City: Man, woman and baby found shot in car with baby in the backseat

Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that killed two people in a car with a baby in the backseat in Harbor City late Monday night.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the shooting occurred near the 1000 block of W. 253rd Street around 6:35 p.m.

Investigators believe the victims were in a car when someone approached and opened fire, hitting both adults.

The woman, 18-year-old Ashley Guzman, was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The man, 21-year-old Carlos Loera, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Their baby, about a year old, was also hit by gunfire in the incident, police said. He has since been treated in hospital and transferred to the care of relatives.

Detectives believe the shooting may be gang-related as they continue to investigate the circumstances.
