Milford area
In Pike County, a free Thanksgiving dinner, takeout only, is planned for anyone who cannot be with family on Thanksgiving or is in need. The meals are delivered to homebound recipients of the Meals on Wheels program. Delivery area is limited to Milford and surrounding communities (Delaware, Dingman, Milford, Westfall, Matamoras, Port Jervis).
Reservations must be made before November 20, so that sufficient food can be arranged.
Pickup is available from 11 a.m. to noon at the Delaware Township Building on Wilson Hill Road in Dingmans Ferry, and from noon to 1 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd at Fifth and Catharine Streets in Milford Borough.
The press release for this event states that “the program is made possible through the efforts of many people. Local businesses donate money to purchase the food. Delaware Township provides the facility. Volunteers assist with preparation and delivery.”
If you know someone who would like a meal delivered or picked up, or if you have any questions, call Steve Davis at 570-228-7699. You can also email your request to stevenpdavis@gmail.com. Be sure to include the number of meals, where you can pick up or deliver the order, and a telephone number.
“We will confirm all orders if we are not talking live,” the press release said.
