Hostage situation in Ede, East Holland

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – Several people were taken hostage in the eastern Dutch city of Ede early on Saturday morning and homes in the area were evacuated, police said.

According to the police, there are no indications of a terrorist motive.

Several special police units were deployed to the scene, a building in the center of the city, police said in a statement on social media. They added that 150 homes had been evacuated and the public was asked to stay away from the area.

In the local Petticoat bar, people were held by a man with weapons and explosives, the Telegraaf reports based on various anonymous sources.
