How cork – the same material used to seal wine bottles – could save the planet

There’s no end to the uses for cork, a spongy material that can be used for everything from sealing wine bottles to replacing plastic and building materials. The world’s most important cork forests surround the Mediterranean Sea, while Portugal is home to the most cork trees in the world. People there are working on how they can use the resilient material to combat climate change.
