The EagleCam has been fascinating fans of the majestic bird for 12 years.
For the 2024-2025 season, the DNR says they have placed a new camera at a nest of breeding bald eagles, which have been at the site for at least four years.
In 2023, food was cut off in April after a snowstorm caused the nest fall 100 feet from his spotkilling the eagle inside. The DNR said the nest, which rested on a dead branch, was about 20 years old and probably weighed about 2,000 pounds.
The camera was reactivated in November, and is still active. The eagle pair remained faithful to the area and built a nest about half a mile from the original location. The DNR says the camera is in “tour view,” which shows a variety of panoramic views of their habitat.
The DNR operates the EagleCam largely to raise awareness for the non-wildlife program, which relies heavily on donations.
