Blaine Hunt could expect a medal haul in Great Britain on the second day of the 2024 Paralympic Games when he won silver in the men’s C4-5 1,000m time trial.

Hunt made his Paralympic debut at the age of 35 and his finishing time of 1:01.776 was bettered by just 0.126 seconds by Australia’s Korey Boddington to win gold.

The bronze went to Spain’s Alfonso Cabello, who knocked Britain’s Jody Cundy off the fourth place.

Cundy, 46, is a nine-time Paralympic medalist who has won a medal at every Games he has competed in since 1996 in Atlanta.

He gets one more chance to continue that winning streak: on Sunday in the mixed team sprint.

Fellow countryman Archie Atkinson finished fifth in the final, giving Great Britain multiple medals on Friday.

Great Britain are assured of gold and silver in the men’s C3 3,000m individual pursuit as Jaco van Gass and Finn Graham are in the final.

Sophie Unwin, Lizzie Jordan and Lora Fachie all reached the final of the women’s 1,000m time trial, while Matthew Robertson competes in the men’s 3,000m individual pursuit in the C2 race, where he takes bronze.

More to come.
