Immanuel UCC celebrates its 150th anniversary [Religion Digest]

• Immanuel United Church of Christ, 99 S. Waverly St., Shillington, will celebrate its 150th anniversary Sunday at 9 a.m. Rev. William Worley, Conference Minister of the Pennsylvania Southeast Conference of the United Church of Christ, will preach. Trio Jolie provides an extensive prelude and special music throughout the service. After the service, materials from the church archives will be on display, along with a community art project, time capsule activities and more.

• St. Andrew’s United Church of Christ, 1320 Spruce St., Reading, will hold a fall food sale this Saturday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Homemade ham and bean soup; homemade chili, homemade hamburger barbecue; hot dogs; apple dumplings; shoo-fly pies; pumpkin pies; drinks; and various pastries are for sale to eat on site and/or take away.

• Schwarzwald United Church of Christ, 75 Church Lane Road, Exeter Township,

sells Thanksgiving pies. Apple crumble, pumpkin and key lime will be available

• The deadline to collect new children’s winter pajamas (one- or two-piece sets) as part of Jesus, Jammies and Joy is December 1. • Calvary United Church of Christ, 1231 Route 100, Washington Township, will hold a Christmas Bazaar this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bake sales, artisans, basket raffle and indoor flea market.

• St. John’s Gernant’s Church (A Federated Congregation), 13 Gernant’s Church Road, Ontelanuee Township, will hold a holiday bazaar and soup sale today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be 30 tables with wreaths, candy, handmade ornaments and more. There are refreshments for sale, pastries and five different soups. Bible study will be held in the Memorial Hall on Wednesdays at 1 p.m.

• Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, Douglass Township, Montgomery County, will host coffee and conversation at 8:30 a.m. Sunday in the Welcome Center.

• St. John’s Lutheran Church, 45 N. Reading Ave., Boyertown, will hold its 24th annual tribute to veterans Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Today there is a free drive-through, takeaway meal from 4:30 p.m. 5:30 PM, no registration required.

• Schwarzwald Lutheran Church, 250 Church Lane Road, Exeter Township, will recognize veterans during its 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday.

• Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, 170 Tuckerton Road, Muhlenberg Township, will remember veterans during the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday. The annual craft show and bazaar will be held next Saturday from 8am to 2pm

• The Book Discussion Group continues its study of “Zorba the Greek” with an exploration of Zorba’s views on freedom, women and human nature in general at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 257 W. Walnut St., Kutztown, on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. The discussion will be facilitated by Craig Bennett, a retired professor. Contemplative Spirituality follows at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. James A. Skelton’s program on “Spiritual Intelligence – Part Two.” Skelton helps us ask questions about the ultimate meaning of life and the ability to integrate relationships between ourselves and the world we live in.
