Intel has announced that CEO Pat Gelsinger has retired and stepped down from the company’s board of directors, effective December 1. David Zinsner and Michelle Johnston Holthaus have been named interim co-CEOs.
“Leading Intel has been the honor of my life. This group of people are among the best and brightest in the industry, and I am honored to call everyone a colleague,” Gelsinger said in a statement. “Today is of course bittersweet, as this company has been my life for most of my career. I can look back with pride on everything we have achieved together. It has been a challenging year for all of us, as we have had difficult but necessary decisions to position Intel for today’s market dynamics. I am forever grateful to the many colleagues around the world with whom I have worked as part of the Intel family.”
