US stock markets will be closed on Monday, January 20 in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
President Ronald Reagan signed the King Holiday Bill into law on November 2, 1983, making the third Monday in January a federal holiday in honor of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., according to the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
The Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange are both closed for the federal holiday, but will reopen for regular trading hours on Tuesday, January 21.
The US bond markets will also be closed on January 20, according to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association. The bond markets will also open again on January 21.
After MLK Day, Wall Street will remain business as usual until Monday, February 17, when the stock and bond markets will close in honor of Presidents Day.
