Actor Jamie Foxx needed stitches after being involved in an altercation in Beverly Hills while celebrating his birthday on Friday, a spokesperson for the stars of “Django Unchained” and “Ray” said.
Police were called to Mr. around 10:10 p.m. Chow, an upscale Chinese restaurant located in the 300 block of N. Camden Drive, after learning of a reported assault with a deadly weapon, Beverly Hills Police Department officials said.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that reports of assault with a deadly weapon were unfounded, but that a physical altercation had broken out between two parties inside the restaurant. They did not provide details about what caused the confrontation.
Although police did not identify Foxx by name, a spokesperson told CBS News Los Angeles that he was at the restaurant for a party.
“Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass in his mouth. He required stitches and is recovering,” the spokesperson said. “The police were called and the matter is now in the hands of the police.”
No further information has been provided and it is unclear if any arrests have been made.
Foxx, now 57, recently revealed the cause of his prolonged hospitalization in 2023 due to a cerebral hemorrhage and stroke.
