The King of the Seven Seas is back!
On Sunday, Warner Brothers Discovery debuted the first trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdomthe sequel to the 2018 original. The trailer sees Jason Momoa return as Justice League superhero Arthur Curry, King of Atlantis, teaming up with Patrick Wilson’s Ocean Master.
Fans won’t have to wait long for more information, as this teaser will be followed by a full trailer in just four days.

This first look reveals scenes of Black Manta, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, vowing to avenge his father’s death. Amid images of Arthur’s childhood home going up in flames, the villain declares, “I’m going to kill Aquaman and destroy everything he holds dear.”
The clip also features scenes of Wilson as Orm, the former king of Atlantis, and Nicole Kidman as Arthur’s mother, Queen Atlanna.

The first Aquarius film earned over $1 billion at the box office, making it the highest-grossing DC Extended Universe film to date. The sequel will premiere on December 20, five years after the original hit in 2018.
Amber Heard also reprises her role as Mera, princess of Xebel and Arthur’s love interest Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom — But missing from the teaser trailer.
DC Films president Walter Hamada revealed during the Depp/Heard trial that her role in the Aquarius sequel was reduced due to chemistry issues between her and co-star Momoa.
Meanwhile, Heard’s agent, Jessica Kovacevic, said she believed that behind the scenes, the negative press surrounding Heard’s accusations against Johnny Depp was affecting her career.

“In my experience… your career takes a turn after something like that,” Kovacevic said. “She was very well received in the film at the time, everyone was happy with her at the time, there were no problems. And then a complete recession, and then to coincide with constant tweets and negativity about her. I don’t have any physical evidence, but it is the only logical conclusion I draw.”
Meanwhile, the synopsis for the highly anticipated sequel reads: “After failing to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take down Aquaman once and for all to get. This time, Black Manta is more formidable than ever before and wields the power of the mythical Black Trident, unleashing an ancient and evil force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his captured brother Orm, the former king of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must put aside their differences to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family and the world from irreversible destruction.”

On January 12, Wan shared a behind-the-scenes photo on Instagram to celebrate the final day of filming the movie.
“And finally, finally, finally a photo report from the last day of #Aquaman2 in Malibu with these two gentlemen @prideofgypsies @thereelpatrickwilson. Yes, we get very wet a lot during this show,” he wrote in the caption.
“A THOUSAND THANKS to the entire incredible crew who worked so hard and tirelessly on this picture. Especially the British part where we shot 95% of the film. Truly some of the best craftsmen and craftsmen I have been lucky enough to work with to work with. And big shout-outs to the great Hawaiian and Los Angeles units,” Wan added at the time. “I still have a long way to go before it’s ready, but I can’t wait to share this video with you all.”
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom can be seen in cinemas from December 20.
