Yum China Holdings has reached a major milestone with the opening of its 1,000th KFC store in Guangzhou Province, China.
This milestone underlines the brand’s robust expansion in the Chinese market since its introduction in 1987.
In addition to this landmark store, the 100th KCOFFEE cafe in Guangdong province was also unveiled, demonstrating the popularity of the combined business model.
The new KFC store and KCOFFEE café highlight Yum China Holdings’ commitment to growth and innovation within the foodservice sector.
Yum China’s strategy has seen the KCOFFEE model expand to more than 500 locations nationwide, with plans to reach 600 by the end of 2024.
The introduction of the KFC brand in China began in Beijing’s Qianmen district and the brand now has 11,000 stores nationwide.
The expansion in Guangdong province was particularly notable, with the region serving as a testing ground for new products and business models.
Innovations such as automated food trucks and breakfast kiosks in metro stations have been tested there.
In October 2024, KPRO, KFC’s new concept store offering healthy and nutritionally balanced meal options, opened in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
