FOXBORO – Some of the most impressive skills on display took place in the shadows of Gillette Stadium on Wednesday. Directly behind the Revolution training center, Revs players interacted with their amputee partners.

Founder Nico Calabria, captain of the US Amputee Soccer Team, also welcomed young amputees who fell in love with the game.

“Nico has been such an inspiration to us and our family, showing Isaak that there are no limits to being an amputee,” said Sarah Depelteau, who traveled with her family from Concord, New Hampshire, to see her 8-year-old play to see.

“I didn’t see anyone as an athlete who looked like me growing up. I’m absolutely thrilled to be that person for Isaak,” said Calabria.

As a thank you for the fun and challenging training, the Revolution surprised the amputee team with $3,000 to cover travel expenses when they compete in the inaugural national championships in October.
