Lionel Messi and Inter Miami, in the middle of their remarkable series in the Leagues Cup, return to action on Tuesday evening.
Miami will face the Philadelphia Union in the Leagues Cup semifinals on Tuesday in Pennsylvania. The winner of that match will advance to the final, where CF Monterrey or Nashville SC will be waiting for him. Should Miami make it to the championship, it would be the club’s first final in any competition.
Messi has absolutely dominated since arriving in South Florida, quickly making Maimi the favorite to win the Leagues Cup on BetMGM despite their last-place finish in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference. Miami has won five consecutive games – matching its total MLS wins – and Messi has already scored eight goals. He scored in Miami’s 4-0 win over Charlotte FC in the quarter-finals on Friday. As a club, Miami has scored 17 goals in the Leagues Cup.
Tuesday’s match marks Messi’s second road trip with the club. The Union lost just one home game at Subaru Park in the past two seasons. The Union beat Querétaro 2-0 in their quarter-final on Friday, which came after back-to-back penalty shootout wins.
The Inter Miami-Philadelphia Union game kicks off Tuesday night at 7:00 PM ET. The other semifinal kicks off at 9:30 PM ET in Nashville.
