Lions RB David Montgomery left with a thigh injury vs. Seahawks

Running back David Montgomery had a great day for the Detroit Lions in their game against the Seattle Seahawks, but the game came to a sudden and unpleasant stop when Montgomery went down with a leg injury late in the third quarter.

During one run, Montgomery got his foot stuck on Seahawks linebacker Jordyn Brooks, who wouldn’t let go no matter how hard Montgomery turned. He ended up spinning 360 degrees with his foot in Brooks’s grip, and eventually staggered off the field.

He was later carted off the field with an ice pack on his lower leg.

Montgomery lit up Ford Field before the injury against the Seahawks. He had 16 carries for 67 yards with one touchdown – a TD in the third quarter that put the Lions ahead. His longest run was 16 yards and he even had a catch of seven yards.

In Week 2, there were questions about who would get the lion’s share (no pun intended) of the RB transfers: Montgomery or Jahmyr Gibbs. Before the injury, it was all Montgomery. And if Montgomery’s injury becomes serious enough that he misses time, Gibbs could be the one to replace him.
