CHICAGO (CBS) — Posters are popping up on social media touting an apparently unauthorized Jeremy Allen White look-alike contest in Chicago this weekend.
Flyers around town confirm that a Jeremy Allen White look-alike match will take place at Humboldt Park, on the “big hill” on Saturday at 1pm.
White has won multiple Emmy Awards and the Golden Globe for his starring role in the Chicago-based show “The Bear,” which also stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri and Liza Colón-Zayas, all of whom have also won Emmys for their performances.
The show is loosely inspired by Chicago’s iconic “Mr. Beef” and features locations around the city.
The winner of the contest will reportedly win a “cash prize of $50 + some cigarettes.”
It was not immediately clear who organized this event.
Last month in New York, Timothée Chalamet provided a surprise appearance Sunday at his own look-alike competition. Chalamet posed for photos with his doppelgängers, some of whom came dressed as his characters from the films “Wonka” and “Dune.”
Minutes after the game started, and before Chalamet arrived, police ordered the group to disperse from the park. Organizers were fined $500 for an “unauthorized costume contest.”
“It started as a stupid joke and now it’s become pandemonium,” Paige Nguyen, producer for YouTube personality Anthony Po, told The Associated Press.
