Man arrested for trafficking pounds of heroin, running meth lab in Gwinnett home

A metro Atlanta sheriff’s office says it is committed to protecting the citizens of Georgia by removing illegal drugs from communities.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a home on Purcell Road in Lawrenceville. During the search, authorities said they discovered a large amount of fentanyl, heroin, multiple weapons and a huge amount of cash in a methamphetamine lab.

Gwinnett County officials seized the following:

  • Nearly 72 kilograms of methamphetamine

  • Almost two kilos of heroin

  • Over $61,000 in cash

“The commitment of our Special Investigations Division is to maintain a sense of safety, security and human dignity in the community we serve,” said Chief Cleophas Atwater of the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office.

This led to the arrest of Martin Guzman-Beltran.

Guzman-Beltran is currently being held in the Gwinnett County Detention Center and is charged with the following:

  • Trafficking in methamphetamine

  • Four counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime

  • Production of methamphetamine

  • Possession of a knife during the commission of a crime

  • Possession of drug-related objects

“Our goal is to keep cartels out of Gwinnett County to protect our community from the threat of illegal drugs,” said Maj. Darryl Nelson, GCSO Special Investigations Division commander.
