Man charged in fatal stabbing of 73-year-old woman in Arnold called 911 himself

A man has been charged in the fatal stabbing of a 73-year-old woman in Arnold Sunday night, the Westmoreland County Prosecutor’s Office announced Monday.

Brian Rebold, 38, is charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter.

At approximately 5:38 p.m. on Sunday, officers were called to 100 Liberty Avenue after Brian Rebold called 911 to report the stabbing.

Police say when they arrived they found Diana Rebold dead in the street, stabbed multiple times.

Several neighbors witnessed the stabbing and gave statements to the officers on the scene.

According to the Public Prosecution Service, Brian Rebold threw the knife in a nearby garden, after which it was recovered by police.

Police would not say exactly what their relationship was, but said they did not live together.

Brian Rebold is being held in the Westmoreland County Jail without bail.
