Police are searching for a gunman after a man was killed in a shootout in the parking lot of a Northeast Philadelphia shopping center Thursday evening.
The shooting took place in the Shoppes at Wissinoming lot at Harbison Avenue and Tulip Street.
Just after 10:30 p.m., officers arrived to find a man who had been shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released, but investigators believed he was in his late teens or early 20s.
Witnesses told police that the victim had come to the lot with another man to meet another group of men. The reason for the meeting was not clear, but eventually the victim and a man from the other group started shooting at each other.
The surviving gunman, a man in his 20s, fled the scene. A gun was found at the scene, which police said belonged to the shooter.
One arrest was made, but police did not respond to questions about whether that person was the shooter.
According to the police, several surveillance cameras have images that can assist in the investigation.
