Man found dead in Tacoma due to suspected murder identified. Cause of death pending

A Tacoma man found dead in a home last week has been identified, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

William Akers, 56, died Nov. 27 near the 7400 block of South Oakes Street. His cause and manner of death are still pending, the office said in a news release. This is a placeholder used when additional research, information and/or test results are required for certification.

Tacoma police responded to the home around 9:30 p.m., where they found Akers’ body inside. Crime scene technicians and investigators also responded to the location, The News Tribune previously reported.

No suspects were identified or arrested as of Wednesday, said Detective William Muse, spokesman for the Tacoma Police Department.
