Man injured, suspect charged with attempted murder after shooting in Apple Valley

An Apple Valley man is charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting and wounding another man during a dispute earlier this week.

Humberto Cueto, 44, was arrested after the 9:30 p.m. shooting in the 14300 block of Jicarilla Road, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials and jail records.

Officers were responding to reports of a shooting at a home when they encountered a 67-year-old man suffering from one or more gunshot wounds, officials said. Cueto was held without a fight in the front yard of the house.

No update was available on the injured man’s condition.

It was determined that the shooting resulted from an earlier dispute between the men that had escalated into physical violence, according to a statement from the sheriff’s department.

Further details, including the relationship between the suspect and the victim, had not been released Thursday.

In addition to an attempted murder charge, Cueto was also charged with sentence-enhancing charges of using a firearm in a crime and causing great bodily harm, according to San Bernardino County Superior Court records.
