A man died Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle in a collision in Tacoma’s West End, Tacoma police said. The driver was later arrested.
The victim was crossing South 12th Street at Vassault Street when he was struck by a driver who was leaving the scene. A witness followed the suspect vehicle and was able to provide information to officers, Tacoma police spokesman William Muse said Thursday.
Officers arrested the suspected driver in a home. Intoxicants are believed to have played a role in the incident, Muse said.
The victim died at the scene, just south of Temple Beth El and north of Tacoma Community College.
