A man was shot and killed by an unknown person in Phoenix after witnesses said he pointed a gun at a woman early Saturday morning.
Phoenix officers responded to the area of ​​Central Avenue and Illini Street to investigate a shooting that occurred around 5 a.m.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital by Phoenix Fire Department, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel. Patrol officers had stopped several people in the area for detectives to talk to, according to Phoenix police.
Homicide detectives arrived on scene and took over the investigation. Witnesses told investigators that the victim pulled out a gun and pointed it at a woman, according to police. This led to an unknown person shooting the victim, police said.
The victim was identified by police as 43-year-old Bobby Thomas.
