Police say an armed man shot himself in the leg on Monday along the route of the West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn.
The victim was outside a five-story residential building on Eastern Parkway at the corner of Franklin Ave. at 4:20 p.m. when his firearm went off and he suffered the self-inflicted wound, police said.
Paramedics rushed the gunman to Kings County Hospital, where his condition is stable, police added.
Police recovered the firearm, which was in the victim’s waistband when the shot was fired, law enforcement sources said.
Police are expected to slap the shooter with charges related to illegal firearm possession after he receives medical attention, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
