Man Without Shoes Asks for Ride, Pulls Over Car in Quincy

Two suspects, including a teenager, are accused of dragging a woman from her car on Wednesday, crashing the vehicle and then knocking on doors to get a ride out of Quincy.

At 8 p.m., Quincy police were called to the Jackpot Food Mart on F Street Southeast.

According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the victim told deputies that two men walked up to him, pulled his girlfriend out of his red Ford Mustang and drove east on State Route 28.

While officers were speaking with the victim and witnesses, a report came in of a crash involving a red Mustang at the intersection of Adams Road North and Road 11-Northwest.

Members of the sheriff’s office Crime Reduction Team responded to the crash and began searching for the suspects. During the search, dispatchers radioed in that a suspicious person was knocking on doors in Quincy, asking for someone to take him out of town.

Quincy officers arrived at 8th Street and Rocky Avenue Northeast and arrested a 16-year-old boy.

The second suspect, 28-year-old Jose Silva Padilla, was found in the 200 block of I Street Northeast. He was missing a shoe, his pants were soiled, and the sock on his shoeless foot was dirty and wet.

According to police, Padilla’s missing shoe was found in the parking lot of Jackpot Food Mart, where the Mustang was stolen.

Both Padilla and the teen are from Moses Lake.

The teen was booked into the Chelan County Juvenile Justice Center for investigation of second-degree robbery, theft of a motor vehicle and fourth-degree assault.

Padilla was booked into the Grant County Jail for investigation of second-degree robbery, theft of a motor vehicle and fourth-degree assault.
