Sept. 4 – WILKES-BARRE – Mayor George Brown said Wednesday that Dan Kimbrough is driven by a passion for understanding cultural differences and fostering inclusive environments, and that he has dedicated his career to bridging divides and empowering individuals.

For those and other reasons, Mayor Brown appointed Kimbrough Grand Marshal for the city’s 7th annual Multicultural Parade & Festival, scheduled for Saturday, September 14.

The parade begins at 11am at the intersection of South & South Main Street and at the end of the parade there will be a festival on Public Square that will last until 5pm.

Mayor Brown said Kimbrough is an accomplished professional with more than 25 years of experience in diversity, education, media and DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion).

Kimbrough, 45, of Kingston, is actively involved in the NEPA community, serving on numerous boards and organizations, including the American Cancer Society, American Advertising Federation, Leadership Northeast, Big Brothers Big Sisters of NEPA, PA Humanities, United Way of Wyoming Valley and the Greater Wyoming Valley Chamber of Commerce. He is also an adjunct professor at Misericordia University in Dallas.

“Dan Kimbrough’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion has had a profound impact on his community and beyond,” said Mayor Brown. “His expertise, advocacy and dedication to building understanding make him a valuable asset to organizations and individuals striving to create more inclusive and equitable environments.”

Kimbrough said he felt “honored and humbled” to have been selected as Grand Marshal for the Multicultural Parade.

On behalf of the citizens of Wilkes-Barre, Mayor Brown proclaimed Wednesday, September 4, as “Dan Kimbrough Day” and congratulated him on his recognition as Grand Marshal of the 2024 Multicultural Parade.
