Three members of the Walton family could soon join the club, as they are each worth more than $93 billion.
Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg are among the handful of people on the planet with a net worth of more than $100 billion.
Members of this elite group have amassed 12-figure fortunes by owning huge amounts of stock in some of the world’s most valuable companies. Most are founders and current or former CEOs, and some, like Warren Buffett, would be far richer if they didn’t give billions to charity.
There may be only 15 centibillionaires, but their combined wealth is more than $2.2 trillion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. That’s more than the $2 trillion market cap of Google parent company Alphabet.
All but one of them got richer this year, adding a combined $370 billion to their personal fortunes. Bank of America ($308 billion), Coca-Cola ($297 billion) and Netflix ($295 billion) are all worth less than that.
The exclusive group is set to expand soon. Three members of the Walton family are sitting on a fortune of more than $93 billion after each becoming at least $22 billion richer this year.
