Michael B Jordan and Jonathan Majors showed support for Angela Bassett in the wake of her Oscars loss.
Bassett was the presumed favorite for the Best Supporting Actress award Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverwith her expected win 29 years after she lost Best Actress for What Does Love Have To Do With It? in 1994.
But at the start of the 2023 ceremony, Jamie Lee Curtis took home the award, which left the audience gasping as well as Lee Curtis, who yelled, “Shut up!” after discovering the news.
Bassett looked sad at the news, which left the actor’s fans emotional.
A little later, Bassett’s Black Panther co-star Michael B Jordan arrived on stage to present an award alongside his own Creed III opponent Jonathan Majors.
“Hey aunt,” Majors said, and Jordan added, “We love you.”
Many praise Bassett for not “feigning exciting” after being “disapproved”.
“They said A LOT with that one sentence,” @gogh_shawty wrote on Twitter, with @TanzApette adding, “Awww that’s taking the time to acknowledge a queen.”
