Mid-City Mall on Bardstown Road is for sale. What we know

Mid-City Mall in the Highlands may need a makeover.

The massive shopping center at 1250 Bardstown Road, in the heart of Louisville’s vibrant Highlands area, is for sale, according to a listing from Cushman & Wakefield.

The 11.5-acre estate is home to Baxter Avenue Theater, ValuMarket Supermarket and Ramen House, among others. The 62-year-old shopping center is located among some of the most sought-after properties in the city and is currently zoned as a C-2 non-residential commercial district.

The mall was also one of the Louisville icons featured in Jack Harlow’s “They Don’t Love It” music video, released in 2023.

“This presents a RARE opportunity for a mixed-use development in one of Louisville’s most desirable neighborhoods,” the listing said.

The mall opened in 1962 and has undergone several ownership changes, a major fire and bankruptcy over the years, The Courier Journal previously reported. The property is valued at $11,385,070 and is owned by Bardstown Road Investment Company and David A Metts Irrevocable Term Trust, according to the Jefferson County Property Valuation Administration.

The property, which is bounded by Bardstown Road, Beechwood Avenue, Baxter Avenue and Rosewood Avenue, achieved a walkability score of 92/100, which is one of the highest in the state of Kentucky, according to the listing. The sales price is ‘negotiable’.
