COLUMBUS – The 15th of nearly two dozen supercargoes, and the last of four loads weighing more than 900,000 pounds, will depart the Adams County docking site Wednesday, Aug. 7. The convoy will head to New Albany to deliver the cargo to the site of Intel’s new manufacturing facility in Licking County.
Like the last three loads, this is an air processor, also called a ‘cold box’, which is used in the production process of silicon chips. Its dimensions are approximately 7 meters high, 6 meters wide, 85 meters long and it weighs 410,000 kilos.
The move is expected to take more than a week, stopping in West Portsmouth, Lucasville, Chillicothe, Rickenbacker, Pickerington and Pataskala before being delivered on Tuesday, August 13.
Complete route details can be found at transportation.ohio.gov/superload.
This tax and route will not have a major impact on traffic, but may have a minor impact on visitors to the Scioto County Fair on Friday morning.
Visitors to the Ross County Fair will be affected Friday afternoon. The exact time of arrival on Ohio 104 is not known, but fairgoers should plan to avoid arriving or departing in the early afternoon hours. While the load historically has only been a little over a half hour on Ohio 104, the extra traffic at the fair could result in longer delays. Follow ODOT District 9 on Facebook for updates.
These oversized loads have significant impacts on traffic as they move. Motorists are strongly advised to plan ahead and avoid the route while the load is moving.
