A multi-vehicle accident in downtown Los Angeles early Friday left one person dead and three others injured.
California Highway Patrol responded to Harbor (110) Freeway and Exposition Boulevard northbound around 2:49 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found several vehicles, including a taxi, blocking the right lane of the highway, a CHP spokesperson said.
The investigation revealed that a woman in a black sedan was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes and ran into the victim, who was driving the taxi.
The taxi driver, identified as Ken Balayev, 71 from Calabasas, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Three others have also been taken to hospital and are in critical condition.
The crash closed all northbound lanes on the 110 Freeway between Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and I-10 closed for several hours, causing major traffic jams. All lanes have now reopened. For the latest traffic situation, click here.
