Paterson police Officer Alberto Sanabria has been indicted by a grand jury on “multiple counts of domestic violence,” the Passaic County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday.
Sanabria, 38, was charged with making terroristic threats, cyberbullying and stalking for incidents that occurred on Dec. 23, 2023, the district attorney’s office said in a news release. If convicted, he could face three to five years for making terroristic threats and 18 months for each of the cyberbullying and stalking charges.
Sanabria was released on a summons and will appear in court again on August 19, the Public Prosecution Service said.
Sanabria was suspended without pay for 30 days in January after the charges were filed, the Paterson Press reported. The district attorney referred all questions about his employment to the Paterson Police Department.
