NEW YORK Police say an officer shot a man armed with a knife in the Bronx on Saturday.
It happened just after 2:30 p.m. at a 7-Eleven at East Tremont Avenue and Barkley Avenue in Throggs Neck.
Police say they responded to a call about a theft and encountered a person carrying a knife.
The NYPD says an officer then shot the person, who was taken to a local hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.
“I was outside drinking my slushie and then I heard the pop, like pop, you know? I saw all kinds of action going on. I didn’t know what was happening. I left, and when I left, I heard from someone who told me on the phone what had happened because I thought it was just fireworks,” said a witness.
According to police, a knife was found at the scene.
