Quilts of Valor wraps Lamar veterans in comfort and brotherhood

LAMAR, Mo. – Four Vietnam War veterans were honored Friday (March 29) in Lamar.

March 29 is Vietnam Veterans Memorial Day – and each of the four veterans was not only thanked for their service and welcomed home today – they also each received a handmade quilt. These came from Quilts of Valor – a national nonprofit organization that – since 2003 has maintained its mission to provide comfort and healing to service members and veterans affected by war.

“And I think it helped them bring their brotherhood together today because they were in this community even though they served in different units. It is still a group thing and I think it was healthy for them to be together as a group on this day,” said Chris Kremp, Quilts of Valor Group Leader Barton-Dade Counties.

The four veterans, by the way: Jack Dimond, Michael Main, Tom Reigel and John Watkins.
