Emma Raducanu will play compatriot Katie Boulter in her first WTA semi-final since 2022 after opponent Fran Jones withdrew from their last eight match at the Nottingham Open.

The 23-year-old Jones, also British, was due to play Raducanu on Saturday in a match carried over from Friday due to rain, but had to withdraw due to a shoulder injury.

“Hopefully everyone can understand that with the big events coming up I’m not in a position to take a lot of risks,” Jones said, with Wimbledon getting underway on July 1.

British number one Boulter, 27, defending champion, reached the semi-finals on Friday with a two-set victory over Poland’s fifth seed Magdalena Frech.

Former US Open winner Raducanu, 21, missed the French Open to focus on her pre-Wimbledon fitness as she continues her comeback from injury.

She defeated Ena Shibahara and Daria Snigur in her run to the last eight in Nottingham.

The start of play on Saturday was postponed due to bad weather but resumed at 2.30pm BST with the quarter-final between Tunisian top seed Ons Jabeur and Czech Karolina Pliskova first on center court.

Raducanu and Boulter’s semi-final follows, as unseeded pair Diane Parry of France and Australia’s Kimberly Birrell contest the final match of the last eight on court one.
