Recover opens a factory for the production of recycled cotton fibers in Vietnam

Recover says the facility will be commissioned in early 2025 and will mark a major milestone in its global expansion plan.

The factory is strategically located in Vietnam’s Dong Nai province, an area selected for its role in the global textile trade as a top exporter.

This strategic placement allows Recover to streamline logistics by being close to both waste sorting and production activities, minimizing transportation costs and environmental impact. The company is poised to efficiently meet the needs of the industry by supplying materials to brands in key textile markets.

With an area of approximately 14,000 m22The plant will be equipped with Recover’s advanced recycling technology and is expected to launch with two advanced recycling lines. These lines are expected to produce 10,000 tons annually.

The site will also house a specialist Recover laboratory to ensure product quality remains consistent across all sites and to facilitate continued innovation in both their products and processes.

A highlight of the factory’s production will be RMix, Recover’s solution for recycling cotton-polyester blends. This process streamlines recycling by eliminating the need for fiber separation – a major hurdle in polycotton recycling – providing an energy-efficient, sustainable option.

Headquartered in Spain, Recover had earlier expanded its presence by opening a branch in Bangladesh in 2022.

The new Vietnamese factory represents a continuation of the company’s growth strategy to tap international markets and respond to escalating demand for recycled materials from global brands and retailers.

Recover CEO Anders Sjöblom said: “Our expansion into Vietnam is a crucial step in our strategic business plan. Circularity is currently an underutilized tool for Vietnam’s textile industry, and by bringing our cutting-edge technology to a key textile hub, we are not only strengthening how we serve our customers by expanding our global manufacturing footprint, but also driving a positive shift towards circularity in Vietnam create.”

In September, Recover partnered with PYRATEX, a leader in eco-friendly textiles, to create a new line of recycled cotton fabrics that combine mechanical recycling techniques with luxury standards.

This collection showed different textures that incorporated 30-50% recycled Recover cotton, mixed with organic cotton fibers. The partnership aimed to combine Recover’s recycling methods with PYRATEX’s expertise in fabric creation to broaden the adoption of recycled materials within premium fashion segments without compromising on quality.
