We have a Red alert due to the extreme heat and the chance of heavy storms today.
The day started off dry with a mix of sun and clouds, with dew points in the low 70s. So while highs will be in the 90s on Saturday afternoon, it will feel more like 100.
That is why a heat warning is valid until 7pm

Possible heavy afternoon storms
Given the tropical air pressure, a storm can cause very heavy rainfall. Some strong to severe storms are possible, with damaging winds posing the greatest threat.
We should watch the skies for showers and thunderstorms approaching after about 3pm
All storms should begin to weaken after sunset and leave the coast before midnight. Not everyone will see them all at once.
Looking forward
In general, it will remain warm and humid this weekend, with a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
Sunday looks similar with temperatures back into the mid 80s. So rinse and repeat — or sweat more and repeat!
Next week we will see another unsettled pattern, but Monday looks to offer the best chance of staying dry.
