A few years ago, Madden created an Aaron Glenn “Ultimate Legends” player with a rating of 97.
At that moment it was probably inevitable.
Via Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Jets I hope to keep Glenn from leaving the building when he conducts his second interview as the team’s head coach on Tuesday.
As Rapoport adds, the deal has not yet been finalized and “some details” remain. If it doesn’t happen, the Saints want to talk to Glenn personally.
Glenn played for the Jets from 1994 to 2001 before finishing his 15-year career with the Texans, Cowboys, Jaguars and Saints. His time with coach Bill Parcells, who arrived in 1997 and signed Glenn to the Dallas roster in 2000, should not be overlooked when it comes to tying Glenn to the Jets.
Parcells has a separate connection with Mike Tannenbaum, the former Jets GM who is looking for a new coach and general manager in New York. As one source noted on Monday: ‘Underestimate the influence of [Parcells]” about the situation.
The news will come to the dismay of former Jets coach Rex Ryan, who has used his bully pulpit to aggressively pursue politics for the job.
The possible hiring of Glenn also indicates that Commanders assistant GM Lance Newmark will be the next Jets GM, given Newmark’s history with the Lions. Another GM option would be current Lions general manager Chris Spielman.
