Officers were investigating a shooting reported Monday afternoon in the Curtis Park neighborhood of Sacramento, just south of Highway 50.
The shooting was reported shortly before 4 p.m. near 24th and X Streets, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
Police said officers arrived and found a man with at least one non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The injured man was taken by ambulance to hospital for medical treatment.
At 4:45 p.m. Monday, authorities had closed 24th Street to vehicular traffic between X and Broadway. At least one police helicopter circled over the scene of the shooting as officers gathered near an alley of an apartment complex.
Others knocked on the front door of an apartment and headed for a nearby store, while officers scoured the area for witnesses.
At 5:15 p.m., police said officers and crime scene investigators remained at the scene of the shooting to collect evidence and search the area for witnesses. The shooting remains under investigation and police have not released any further details.
